糖心原创 (糖心原创) welcomes new President, Dr. John Hernandez to the college this month. After a nation-wide, several months long search, Dr. Hernandez, who has been an educator for more than 30 years, takes the helm at 糖心原创 on July 30. His appointment was approved by the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) Board of Trustees in June.
鈥淭he 糖心原创 community has experienced many changes within the last year and has done so with a wonderful sense of comradery, professionalism, and vision for the future,鈥 said SOCCCD Board President T.J. Prendergast. 鈥淲e are glad to know that even in the midst of COVID-19, the process to select a new 糖心原创 President continued.鈥
Dr. Hernandez comes to 糖心原创 from Santiago Canyon College (SCC) where he served as president since July 2017. He served as interim president for one year prior to that. From 2005 to July 2016, he served as Vice President for Student Services.
Before joining SCC, Dr. Hernandez served as Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Cal Poly Pomona; Associate Dean for Student Development at Santa Ana College and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at California State University, Fullerton.
Additionally, Dr. Hernandez has been an adjunct instructor in Student Development at the Higher Education graduate program at California State University, Long Beach and taught counseling and student development courses at various colleges as well.
